Bang Bang Lulu is a 2019 Lagoon 42 sailing catamaran for groups of up to 25 who want a day of swimming, snorkelling and eating on the water from Puerto Aventuras.
The 42 is a VPLP design that keeps the day on one level: the cockpit opens into the saloon through a glass door, the helm is raised to port, and sun pads sit forward above the bow nets. Here the cockpit dinette is under the hardtop's shade, the saloon has a U-shaped galley, and three cabins with three bathrooms give guests somewhere to change below.
The price covers 15 guests, and up to 25 can come aboard. A captain, a deckhand, a chef and a host run the day; the chef cooks aboard, and the open bar pours beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks and water.
Two paddleboards, a floating mat, floaties, snorkel gear and fishing gear come along, and the swim platform at the stern is the way in and out of the water.
It suits birthdays, bachelor parties, family reunions, proposals and weddings. What sets it apart is the bow, where sun pads and a net reach out over the water.

The Lagoon 42 was drawn by VPLP to replace the 420, with the whole day on one level aft. Two low steps lead up from the wide transoms into the cockpit, where a dinette to starboard seats eight under the hardtop, a lounge to port takes two, and a small bench runs across the stern. A three-panel glass door opens the cockpit into the saloon at the same height.
Inside, the galley is split in a U, with the stove and sink on one side and the fridge on the other, and an L-shaped settee runs across the saloon behind the chart table. The raised helm is to port, with room for two and steps on up to a sun pad on the coachroof. Forward, sun pads sit at the front of the coachroof above the trampoline nets between the bows.
Air conditioning keeps the saloon cool, and the sound system plays inside and out, controlled from a phone. A grill, a refrigerator and a stocked cooler keep food and drinks close at hand, and there is room on the coachroof, the foredeck and the cockpit to stretch out.
