About this trip
Marina V&V is in Playa Mujeres, on the mainland north of Cancún. Playa Norte, the beach at the north end of Isla Mujeres, is about 3 nautical miles away, some 20 minutes at a 10-knot cruise, so most of the six hours go to the water rather than the ride.
The first stop is the shallow reef off the Maya site of El Meco, under 2 nautical miles south of the marina, or a sunken ship close by. The captain decides on the day by wind and sea, and in rough water may skip the reef and give you the time at Playa Norte.
Then the yacht anchors off Playa Norte, which faces north and west onto sheltered, shallow water, for most of the afternoon: a swim, a float, music, the bow in the sun and lunch on deck if you have added a chef.
Two yachts berth at Marina V&V and run this trip. Vive is an 80-foot Dyna Craft and Viva La Vida a 120-foot Sunseeker; both carry a water mat, and Viva La Vida adds paddleboards.
This route is our design, built on the marina the two yachts leave from and the reef and beach yachts on this coast use.

Questions
Where is Marina V&V?
On Calle Vialidad Paseo Mujeres in Playa Mujeres, on the mainland north of Cancún, past Puerto Juárez. Of the three marinas our Cancún yachts leave from, it is the closest to the north end of Isla Mujeres. If you are staying in the hotel zone, allow for the drive.
Where do we snorkel, and is gear included?
At El Meco reef or the sunken ship close by, as the sea allows. Both yachts carry snorkel gear. Touching coral or fish is not allowed in the marine park around the island, and that is good practice at any reef.
What is included in the price?
The yacht and crew for six hours. Both yachts include soft drinks and beer and carry snorkel gear and a water mat. Viva La Vida also has paddleboards. A chef can be added on either for $300 USD plus the cost of the groceries.
What costs extra?
The marina's dock tax, charged per person and paid at the marina before you sail; we confirm the amount with your quote. Jet skis ($450 USD) and Seabobs ($400 USD) can be added on both yachts. Tipping the crew is at your discretion; we suggest 10% to 15% of the charter fee.
Is there a national park fee?
The west coast of Isla Mujeres is part of the Costa Occidental de Isla Mujeres, Punta Cancún y Punta Nizuc National Park. CONANP charges MXN 125 per person per day to visit it; older adults, pensioners, people with disabilities and children under 12 are exempt, and Mexican nationals and foreign residents pay half. We'll confirm before you sail whether your day's stops fall inside the park.
How many people can come?
Each yacht's price covers 15 guests. Vive takes up to 18, at $125 USD for each guest beyond 15. Viva La Vida's page allows up to 30, at $200 USD for each guest beyond 15, but one listing that cites the port captaincy gives 15 in all, so the number is settled with you in writing before you book.
Is the route fixed?
No. The day here is the one we suggest, and the captain can lengthen or drop a stop. The reef depends on the sea, and the six hours are the limit.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If we cannot complete your cruise because of weather, you receive a 100% refund or the option to reschedule.
How do we book and pay?
A 50% deposit confirms the reservation and secures your date. The balance is due 7 days before the cruise. We accept all major credit cards and ACH transfers, and we confirm the cancellation terms for your yacht in writing before you book.
