About this trip

Puerto Juárez, on Cancún's north side, is one of the places the Isla Mujeres ferries leave from, and Marina Hacienda del Mar is on the road that runs north from it to Punta Sam. From the marina to Playa Norte, the beach at the island's north end, is about four and a half nautical miles: 20 to 30 minutes across the bay. Six hours leaves time for a long swim off the beach and a few hours ashore.

The yacht is Capricho, a 100-foot Azimut with a jacuzzi on deck and a flybridge with a grill, for groups of up to 30. Snorkel gear and floats are included, so the stop off Playa Norte is as active or as lazy as you like: swim off the stern, put on a mask, or stay in the jacuzzi with the island in front of you.

Playa Norte faces north and west onto sheltered, shallow water. After the swim you go ashore for lunch at a beach restaurant or a walk through town, or add a chef and eat on deck. Capricho also charters for eight hours from the same marina.

This route is our design, built on the marina Capricho leaves from and the stop she is sold on.

Questions

Where is Marina Hacienda del Mar?

On the Puerto Juárez to Punta Sam road, north of the Puerto Juárez ferry terminal, on the mainland across the bay from Isla Mujeres. It is Capricho's home marina.

Why six hours and not four?

Capricho is sold to Isla Mujeres only on charters of six hours or more, which leaves time to go ashore as well as swim.

Can we go ashore on Isla Mujeres?

Yes, the middle of the day is for that. The yacht anchors off Playa Norte and the captain arranges on the day how you get to the beach. Meals and anything you buy ashore are paid for directly.

What is included in the price?

Capricho's price includes water, soft drinks and beer, the jacuzzi, snorkel gear and floats, with a captain and crew. A chef can be added for $300 USD plus the cost of the groceries.

What costs extra?

The price covers 20 guests; each guest beyond that costs $120 USD. The dock tax is $15 USD per person, paid on the day. Jet skis ($450 USD) and Seabobs ($400 USD) are extras, and an extra hour is $1,000 USD. Tipping the crew is at your discretion; we suggest 10% to 15% of the charter fee.

Is there a national park fee?

The island's west coast is part of the Costa Occidental de Isla Mujeres, Punta Cancún y Punta Nizuc National Park. CONANP's fee is $125 MXN per person per day. Children under 12, older adults, pensioners and people with disabilities are exempt, and Mexican nationals and foreign residents pay half. We'll confirm whether it is collected on your day and how.

Is the route fixed?

No. This is the day we suggest, and the captain can change the stop if the north end is crowded or the wind is wrong. The six hours and the sea are the limits.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If we cannot complete your cruise because of weather, you receive a 100% refund or the option to reschedule.

How do we book and pay?

A 50% deposit confirms the reservation and secures your date. The balance is due 7 days before the cruise. We accept all major credit cards and ACH transfers, and we confirm the cancellation terms for your yacht in writing before you book.
